Astonishing Mid-range Smartphone, HTC Desire 816 – Review

You could get the key details of newly released smartphone, HTC desire 816.

HTC, generally known for making premium phones and phablets has finally decided to offer more to the average consumer by making its entry with a 5.5 inch phablet into the mid range section and it promises to blow you away with its robust configuration and top quality feel!

When the other companies go mid range, they cut down on the quality and feel of the phone. But it is not with HTC, because it manages to maintain its high standards while at the same time providing a lot of features that do not fail to impress at all. Let us look at this magic device in closer detail through this post.

Impressive Specs of HTC Desire 816

Here are the amazing specifications for HTC Desire 816 you need to know!

Design and Build

As soon as your eyes fall upon this glossy device, its huge size isn’t the only thing that grab your eyeballs, but with a shiny glossy finish too. Rest assured it is not platinum or metal finish, it is basically plastic but it does not feel like that at all. Though there might be a slight problem with non-white models because they might become prey to fingerprints or dirt. Even though the phone is pretty large to hold, it is extremely slim around 7.99 mm.

The phone houses a 3.5 mm audio jack on the top. It’s power button is placed rather awkwardly over the volume button, which might take some getting used to. Along to the right side is a rather a large flap that has the two SIM card slots and a micro SD card slot with support for up to a whopping 128 gigs of storage. The handset will  be available in black, orange, dark blue, grey and green.

The speakers of the HTC devices are the tried & tested Boombox speakers placed at the top of the phone which are engineered to give you crystal clear sound with noise cancellation. Even it is a mid range device of HTC, there is absolutely no compromise with its sound quality which is as good as any of their high end models and decisively better than its challengers available in the market.

HTC’s front facing BoomSound speakers are still the best speakers and so it’s nice to see them push this feature into their mid-range line up to impress the people.

The screen size is pretty large, 5.5 inches with a 1280×720 resolution. It is not the best resolution for this size but for an amateur it is pretty good and it is vibrant & clear. Colours are displayed accurately and objects dont have jagged edges, the wide viewing angles are an obvious help.
The bezels around the display are little large and you still get that bottom bar for a dedicated HTC logo but it doesn’t disturb the viewing experience. In conclusion, it is an amazing display, good enough to watch your favorite shows because the phone does provide enough memory to play games and videos.

Hardware Specs and Performance

The HTC Desire 816 runs on a Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.6 GHz backed by 1.5 GB of RAM, Adreno 305 GPU and has 8 GB of internal storage. It has the latest Android software, Kitkat and it is extremely fast and responsive. It has the ability to multi-task  and jumps from one task to another faster than a hopping rabbit.

Games run smoothly, camera runs without any glitches and you can browse on various tabs without any problems. You’ll adore to listen music, play games and browse the web effectively with this awesome smartphone.

HTC is selling this gadget as a camera phone as it has striking camera which will be better than those provided in most mid-range phones. The back camera is 13 mp camera with a single LED flash for those night time pictures. It also equipped with a 5 mp front facing camera for video conferencing with very clear video.

It works on the latest 6th sense and thus the pictures taken by this camera appeared to be very good and true to the original. The colors are excellent with vibrant look and it can balance light & dark backgrounds.

Battery life and Connectivity

The battery capacity of the HTC Desire 816 is rated at 2600 mAh, It is a non-removable battery and its life is very impressive. Yes, it lasts for 24 hours on a single charge, where most phones cannot do. If you are texting, playing videos/songs, browsing, making calls and even clicking pictures, you can be assured that the battery will not die out soon.

It has outstanding connectivity features since it supports 2G, 3G and 4G network. The usual features like Bluetooth, NFC (optional), USb, GPRS and good WLAN features are integrated in this gadget.

HTC Desire 816 is available  internationally since its international launch in February 2014 and it is priced around $400. The price is pretty reasonable for all the amazing features that are on offer, and it will most probably be a hit among the consumers. Also, this might be the device to put HTC out on the mainstream as the masses stock up to get their hands on this mid range gadget with the features of a high end phone.

With the features that HTC offers, I would say that this phone should be given a try. Even though it’s been labeled a mid range device, it would give the feeling of a far superior one! So if you want to have a smartphone with boom box sound quality, amazing camera and powerful snapper at affordable rate, HTC Desire 816 is for you!
